Original GE component , substantially cheaper than GE internet site , way to go amazon . Now on I will be seeking appliance components in amazon .
Heater worked as expected and fixed the refridgerator that was not freezing in the freezer section or cooling in the fridge section. I talked to a tech who told me that the fridge section worked off the freezer section. That is why neither was working. When the defrost heater went undesirable (burned out/open circuit) and frost was all in the back of the freezer, this was the culprit. And while I was in there I replaced the Thermostat that turns it on and off, since it did not check as expected. I am thinking that if the thermostat did not turn the heater off it could have caused it to burn out and considering the fact that it didn't cost that substantially, I just replaced them both! Now every single is cool or frozen.
